Promoting Purity in Public School

"Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body, but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. I Corinthians 6:8"

Last year and again this year, we've been teaching a life skills course on purity at the public school where our church, Eindhoven Baptiste Kerk, meets. This year we've had the opportunity to influence over 150 grade six learners in three Afrikaans medium classes and in one English medium class with the message of the gospel and abstinence. Each Friday we spend 3 hours teaching these 11-14 year olds that God's plan for sex is one man with one woman in the covenant of marriage for a lifetime. Tony, Jason and I teach them the importance of making good choices and the consequences of bad choices. We will have two more sessions this month before the school's spring break begins. At the next session, we will give these young people the opportunity to sign a commitment card to save sex for marriage. Pray for the testimony of the gospel to be concretely planted in these young hearts and for God to draw some to salvation. In a culture, where promiscuity is the norm, they will need the grace of God to live purely. We are very thankful for the support of Mev. Assur, the teacher who is the grade head. Her comments have been most encouraging. We are also encouraged when we enter the school gates to hear a learner call out to us one of the mottos(shown above) we've been teaching them. For example, the translation of the top left motto is: "You win or lose by the way you choose, so decide to decide right!"
