Opportunities to Occupy

"Occupy till I come. Luke 19:13"
The last weekend in April, Tony and I traveled to Smithville, Ohio where he filled the pulpit for Pastor Mike Alvis.  While we missed seeing the pastor and his family who were away on a well-deserved holiday, we enjoyed our time with the people of this supporting church.
We greatly appreciated the hospitality of our host family, the Joel Montgomerys.  Even their pets made us feel welcomed! :-)
Most Sundays, except when we travel away, the ladies of the Graceful Ladies' Sunday School class and I working through the book of  James.
These ladies are eager to study with me.  This coming week, we plan to finish James 2, "Demonstrate a living faith by serving your neighbor."
Our dear friends, the Lassiters and the Walkers, were able to join us for a meal last week.  They regularly bless us and my mother through their kind deeds.
I was able to attend the ladies' luncheon at my mother's church on May 12.  Mothers' Day is a time for honoring special women.  One that I greatly honor is Mrs. Ruth Evans (above, on the right) a very special lady who has been my mentor for over 50 years.
I also honor my mother whom the Lord has spared to be a blessing to my life for these many years.

Central Baptist Church, one of our supporting churches, is in my mother's home town.  Their dear pastor, Maurice Wheat, is having some serious health needs. Tony is regularly filling the pulpit for Pastor Wheat.  We are praying for God to restore this faithful man to the place where he has ministered the past 40 years.
While ministering at Central Baptist Church, we had the joy of seeing Mr. and Mrs. Bill Winstead, a faithful missionary couple, who have served the Lord for many decades in Mexico, Puerto Rico and the USA. The last time our paths crossed was in 2000.
