"Turn the light on!"

"Let there be light."  Genesis 1:1-5

Release Time is a opportunity to make known the name of Jesus Christ to children from the elementary school near our sending church. Most of these children are as ignorant of the truth of the gospel as the children we minister to in Delft, South Africa.  When I show them a black felt heart the tell them they have all sinned, they know that they are sinners, though they may be loath to admit it.
Three weeks ago when we I showed our  K-5 learners a red felt cross, not one of them knew who died on the cross for their sins.  It is a tremendous privilege to introduce these little ones to the truths of the gospel.

We are a team of four who serve together to make Christ known each Wednesday afternoon.
We are beginning with the beginning, making known to them that God, the Creator, loves them and sent His Son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins.
We delight to hear them quote and sing: "IN THE BEGINNING GOD CREATED THE HEAVEN AND THE EARTH."
Recently while reviewing the first day of creation, a tall boy's hand shot up when I asked what God said on the first day of creation when there was darkness everywhere. I acknowledge him asking, "What did He say, Alberto?"  He replied, "He said, 'TURN ON THE LIGHT!"  :-) Our prayer is that God will turn on the light of the gospel in the hearts of these boys and girls.
