On February 21, just days after Tony's retuen to South Africa my mother was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. Her body responded well to the IV antibiotics, but the infection greatly weakened her caused her to lose much ability. Insurance only provides for a few days in hospital for pneumonia, so I was given a list of rehabilitation centers across Greenville County to visit and attempt to find a bed . I visited two facilities on February 23 and was told at each one that they had no beds available. The social worker at the hospital had told me it would be difficult to find a bed and that we may have to even look in neighbouring counties for a bed. In the parking lot of the second facility I visited, I bowed my head and told the Lord that I could not open a door for Mama and that He would have to provide. Less than an hour later, I got a call from the social worker telling me that the second place I visited, where I had prayed, had called to offer a bed in their rehabilitation wing!
God answered prayer and provided! She was transfer to Laurel Baye Health Care Rehabilitation on February 25 where she made some progress, but she has not been able to learn to ambulate without help. She is making friends with ladies from our church who visit her.
My last day with our dear K-5's of Released Time and our great team of teachers and helpers was March 11.
On March 12, I attended the funeral of my Aunt Fran, the last of my dad's siblings, in Vaughan, NC. Below is the birthplace of the eight Fishel siblings across the street from the Baptist church where Aunt Fran's memorial service was held.
While in NC, I was able to meet my new great nephew, Alex. His brother, Jace, seems to adore him.
Jace and Ava, my niece Amber's oldest two, posed for this picture when we enjoyed a little outside play time that evening after the funeral.
Amber's third child, Kage, is suddenly so much bigger since Alex's birth.
It was a joy to hear the testimony of Sue Knipe, our co-worker, at the Ladies' Missionary Prayer Group meeting on March 13.
This picture of me and Mama was taken two days before I left to join Tony in South Africa. I thank God for providing for her care and for her encouragement through the visits of friends in my absence.
