Arrival in Cape Town

2 March 08

We arrived in South Africa on Friday evening at 10:30 --- 30 ½ hours after leaving from my mother’s in NC! We had a number of opportunities to share tracts with people we met, but unfortunately the seating on the airbus is grouped in two’s on the side of the plane where Tony and I were seated, which meant we didn’t have a lost seat mate to share Christ with. On the last 2 hours of the journey, we were seated in a grouping of 3 on the domestic flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town. Tony shared the gospel with an African businessman who promised to read John. Pray that God will bring this young father to Himself.

What a joy to see the fledging church plant of 1993 grow into an indigenous work with a national pastor and his wife and assembly standing strong (and TALL :-).

Kevin and Lydia have begun building home
“uit die saak uit” (building with cash). We've enjoyed several time of sweet fellowship with them already. We trust the Lord for grace and strength to get over the jet lag and to get settled this week. We have move the furniture and contents from two rooms we emptied for Simpsons and unpack 5 suitcases. Pray for an opportunity this week to share Christ with new neighbours who recently moved in next door.

Hi Mommy and Daddy!
The pictures look great. Is that building going to be Kevin and Lydia's home? That's pretty cool that they can do that.
You did a good job. :)
Love you so much!

Cathy,

With Amy's help, I finally got to see your blog. It is very nice. I want to thank you again for the South African coins. My first graders enjoyed seeing and comparing them with our coins. One little boy even told me to tell you hey for him and that he hoped you had a safe trip back. It is good to see that you had a safe trip. I'll keep you all in my prayers.
