From door-to-door and from house-to-house

" . . . I came to [DELFT] to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened unto me of the Lord"
2 Corinthians 2:12 Every Sunday afternoon, Jeremy and Tony continue taking the gospel door-to-door in Eindhoven, Delft .Then on Wednesdays, Jason and Tony carry on where Jeremy and Tony stopped. Since beginning in April 2008, we've been able to explain the claims of Christ and present the gospel to nearly 350 people by going through this community systematically, from house to house. Tony has been keeping a journal of these opportunities. This is Tony's summary of the visits he and Jason made yesterday, taken from our letter to our children: "Today was warm but not unbearable. Jason and I were out in Delft and we had opportunity to speak to people at 4 households and several people on the street. "On 2 different occasions, we were subtly asked to leave. This hasn't happened often in the past, but both of these people asked us to leave for the same reason, although they were unaware of the other's actions. It came when I moved from the survey to beginning to explain the gospel and the need for repentance and personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. As soon as I started making personal application they reminded me that they had agreed to do the survey and nothing more. They did not wanted anyone rocking their religious boat that seemed so safe and secure. I was not offended but felt sorry for their willful ignorance of the truth. Our last visit was across the street where we spoke to some young people under a tree. While speaking to a young man, a woman come up and told us that she needed some spiritual help. She said she was a believer but was struggling. She was not sure what was wrong but she was not making any spiritual progress. She did confess bitterness so I dealt with that. I also encouraged her to read her Bible, follow the Lord by faith rather than feelings (she is from a pentecostal background) and invited her to the Bible study. In the course of our conversation I wanted to emphasize the necessity of being daily in the Word and asked her if she ate every day, planning to use that as an illustration of the need to eat spiritual food daily. She said they did not eat everyday because they did not always have food in the house. I hardly knew how to answer her and hardly know what to do about the situation." Delft is a poor community. We are asking the Lord for wisdom to know how to help with physical needs, while continually using everything we do to gain opportunities to concentrate on man's greatest need--spiritual regeneration.
Yesterday, the headmaster of the primary school, where we held Life Skills classes promoting purity and the gospel, received a letter from Jason, Tony and Jeremy(seen above), requesting permission to use classroooms on Sundays to hold worship services. Pray for the fledgling new church plant to be able to begin Sunday services in February. Last Monday, Tony and I were able to spend over an hour with Elaine, June's sister. About a month ago, June and I visited in Elaine's home and shared Christ with Elaine and her 21 year old daughter. God has been allowing Elaine to go through some serious trials with her daughter. Just 2 weeks ago, Elaine left her daughter due to the situation that her drug abuse has created in the home. Elaine attended the Bible study in June and Jeremy's home and we followed up with a visit the next day. Unfortunately, Elaine, (seen above)with her granddaughter whom she is carry for, is not yet ready to turn to Christ.

Praise the Lord for such opportunities,Ps Kevin ,Bro Jan and Bro Abbey had a simmiliar experience last night on visitation,he shared with me on his return, they got an opportunity to visit with an ex gangster who is now a fruit broker(selling fruit),he initially was resistant as he got hurt - his story- a believing (charismatic)christian hurt him deeply, they had an argument which resulted the believer cursing him with these words - "I pray for you to sufferer a stroke" which happened and this guy now does not want to have anything to do with the Lord but by Gods grace Kevin had a break through so please pray tha the Lord would heal this man from his bitterness and change his heart.

Tony and Cathy,

Thank you for your blog. It is an encouragement to us spiritually.
