Holiday Happenings

"Come ye yourselves apart . . . , and rest a while: for there were many coming and going , and they had no leisure . . . ." Matthew 6:31

On 18 and 19 December, we traveled to Cape Town International Airport to bring our children home. We welcomed Rob, our son-in-law, and Jake, our 17 month old grandson, for their very first visit to our home. We had 3 wonderful weeks with our family here. They met the people in the various ministries that we are serving with and also they served with us. Rob had opportunities to encourage a number of the men he met. He also got to preach at three of the churches.Grandson Jake met Chloe, whose parents we've been discipling on Boxing Day, 26 December. During these weeks, we opened our home to many visitors, serving many cups of tea and sharing meals and fellowship. We enjoyed the opportunity the Lord provided for a two day break at a seaside village near Hermanus. We had the opportunity to see many whom we have ministered to since 1988. Lee-Anne came to greet us at a church braai on New Year's Day. We've sought to influence this young woman for the kingdom of God since 1992.

Another young lady, Lizette, visited in our home on several different days. We've had a special ministry with her for over 10 years and especially since 2005. She is a dear friend to Emily, our youngest daughter.
The last class of the Oostenberg Bybel Instituut for 2008 was on 15 December. Tonight the class, a block course on hermeneutics, resumed after a Christmas holiday/year end break of 4 weeks. Pray for these 5 men as they learn to rightly divide the Word of God.
Tony began filling in for the missionary pastor at Calvary Bible Baptist Church in Northpine on 7 December. He is enjoying serving with several of the men who have taken some courses under him at the Bible institute. He hopes to see the Lord develop these laymen's leadership and evangelism abilities during 2009.

Cedric (shown here with baby Micah) leads the services and Andre does the Scripture reading. One day during the holidays, while Andre was off work, he went along with Rob, Jason, and Tony (making two visitation teams) to witness door-to-door in Delft. He and Cedric are looking forward to beginning door-to-door in Northpine.

Just like you, stepping right back into things,I admire that of you to be honest I sang your praises to Sis Elize about that habit well rather good attitude I guess and is one of my resolutions for 2009 and the rest of my days Lordwilling,I learned a valuable lesson - (yes something you have been drillling into us - Kevin and myself but I guess you knock your head and you hear the voices of your parents - spiritual or natural - the lessons you then pull out of your heart and you learn )to keep a program / schedule and STICK TO IT!!!!!!!,no matter if you disappoint people because you end up the diappointed on and stressed out which in turn makes you unpleasant to the one closest to you and the result...... a lesson well learned and a mistake Lordwilling not to be repeated , anyway enjoyed the pics on the blogg and trust it will be coming now :)

Hi Cathy, It was wonderful to look through your pictures and read about your wonderful days with family and ministry. We are so happy the Lord made it possible for all of you to be together again. May the Lord continue to use you in a mighty way in 2009. Much love and prayers, Krischa for all of us

Hi Tony & Cathy,
I have been wondering how the visit with your girls (& boys) went during the Christmas Holiday. Thanks for sharing some pictures! It amazes me how the Lord continues to use you and the folks in the Cape to share the Gospel of Christ. I hoping we will still be able to make a visit to the RSA in the near future, Lord willing. Love you guys!! Have a great Lord's Day!
