Oostenberg Bybel Instituut began its first class of 2010 on the first Thurday in February.
Nineteen men, who represent six national works,
meet together at Immanuel Baptiste Kerk where Tony is teaching Minor Prophets I, Hosea through Micah.
The course will end in April at the close of the first term. When the course concludes, each of the men will receive the Afrikaans syllabus for the course which Tony has written for them. This will serve as a basic commentary on these books as the men prepare to preach and teach from these small, but important books.
Witnessing sometimes takes us into the state hospital. Recently one of our Sunday School boys was diagnosed with a very serious lung infection.
We were very thankful that the 4 sputum cultures were all negative for tuberculosis. Pray for God to use this illness to be a wake-up call to Shadlee to see his need to trust Christ as his Saviour. Also pray for a fellow patient with whom Tony shared the gospel.
Another reminder of the uncertainty of life and the brevity of life came on 7 February, when a brother in the Lord whom we first met in 1988, was ushered "home" after a sudden heart attack at the age of 50. Tony never thought while serving with this brother in 1990 that 20 years later, he would stand and preach before his coffin in the home where we worshipped together.
Pray for the salvation of souls who heard the gospel as it went out at the home service, the memorial service and graveside. Pray for Pastor Aubrey's family to find comfort in in God's Word. We sorrow not as those who have no hope.
