London Layover on Return to South Africa

"The Lord shall preserve thy going out . . . . Psalm 121:8"
When Tony and I flew into Chicago on our way back to South Africa on 1 October, we met Bethany Skaggs at our gate. Bethany travelled back with us to work with us for 3 weeks, after which she will travel to Durban towork with another missionary family until after Christmas. Her teddy, Wilby, also came along!
Since we had an 11-hour layover in London, we took the Underground Tube to Picadilly Circus and when we emerged from the subway, we could see the Union Jack over Parliament.
We walked down to St. James park and onto to Buckingham Palace. Although we didn't get to witness the changing of the guards, we did snap a photo of one of these regal guards. After we bought some lunch at the popular Pret a Manger, we headed back to the park.It was a Sunday afternoon, we really had to scout out a place for our picnic. Our tasty sandwiches and "crisps" (potato chips) were very much enjoyed.Of the places we photographed, Westminster Abbey was certainly one of the most impressive,
as were the other buildings in Westminster square, including "Big Ben" at Parliament or Westminster Palace. We've never had a layover pass so quickly! On our first Sunday back, Bro. Jeremy preached for the first time at our monthly church fellowship night. His text was Matthew 22:1-14 on the parable of the wedding feast. It is exciting to see how he has been developing in his preaching these past 3 years.
Afterwards everyone enjoyed tea. Below, Bethany got to know some of the ladies from one of the other sister assemblies , while I fellowshipped with Selwin, one of the young men who used to be in my 9-12 year old Sunday school class.
Today Bethany and I visited with another pupil from that class. Chantal is living in a facility where her cousin works since her mother died earlier this year.
