A Medley of May Memories

"I thank my God upon every remembrance of you. Philippians 1:3"

It was the end of a special day, Mother's Day. We had just arrived home after braaiing with Jeff and Judy, when there was a knock at the door. Bradley and Oriel came to greet me for Mother's Day. When I removed the pretty pink tissue paper from the lovely gift bag, I found chocolates and cashews!!! How did they KNOW I love these!! Such a blessing to also have some "daughters" nearby, when our own are far away across the ocean!
In May, we returned to the public school teaching purity and the gospel to 4 classes of grade 6 learners, about 160 in total. We 2 1/2 hours to teach and we seek to make every moment count.
It is a joy to have the freedom to tell these beautiful children to say "No" to sex and sin and "Yes" to Christ.
We are delighted to have Brandon as a part of our teaching team this year. He also visits on Wednesday mornings with Tony and Jason. He and Jason connect so well with the young people.
We tell the learners that virginity is never lost. It can be thrown away in an unwise moment, or treasured as precious gift to be given away one time on your wedding day to your husband/wife.
My special man teaches these kids with passionate energy, encouraging them to build a house with love based on security, friendship, unselfishness and pure romance, saving the "roof" (sex) for marriage.
Jason tells the kids that building with the Master's plan is the only way to have a happy marriage and every choice they make today is important. The most important choice is to choose Christ.
On May 15-16, we took the opportunity to get away after our services in Eindhoven to visit the Balies in Genadendal. We were able to attend their afternoon Sunday school where Isaac taught the children about Jesus, the bright morning star.
The next morning after our quiet time, Tony and I climbed the mountain above the village.
and took time to photograph the climbers at a breath stop . . .
. . . and one of the flowers with which God clothes the grass of the field (Matthew 6:28-30).
The next morning before our departure, I shared some lessons about the tongue with the ladies who meet with Sheila each Tuesday morning.
We enjoyed Nicholas' delicious stir fry and apple crumble pie when we had dinner with him on the 20th. I hope to try his pie recipe soon!
On the 22nd, Tony spoke at the Strand Baptiste Bybel Kerk, while Jeremy preached in Eindhoven. Sometimes a missionary really would like to be in two places at once.
One of our precious girls, who stopped attending Bible club, recently came to a prayer meeting and attended a youth meeting. Pray for Nuraan.
The Lord has allowed us to move to a quieter venue at the school. The Grade-R (kindergarten) classroom is quieter and warmer, but busier with all the visuals for young learners. However, we are thankful to meet for our services away from the distraction of the very noisy groups that meet in the school. We are studying the life of David in our Sunday school hour with our 4-18 year olds.
